The Catalyst
For our Catalyst project, my group made a video tutorial over Osmo. Osmo is an interactive app with many features for students to use in the classroom to promote learning. The Osmo kit has a base and reflector with it that can be used with an iPad. The other apps we looked into with Osmo are Masterpiece, Tangrams, Words, and Newton. In our video tutorial we covered each of these apps in detail and showed how to use them!
Throughout our project we had only a few challenges, we had to first figure out how to use the apps before we could make a tutuorial over them. This took some time and patience to teach ourselves how to work the apps properly. Another problem we had was the Catalyst was noisy when we were trying to film our video and so we had to get creative. We asked if we could check out the Osmo gear and found a classroom upstairs to film our video in. It was super convinent to check it out and is an awesome feature that the Catalyst has to offer!
Overall, I learned a lot from this experience. We used the iMovie app to make our tutorial and I love how it allows you to cute videos directly in the app. It is user-friendly as well, which was very helpful in this project because we had quite a few different video clips to add in. I can see myself using iMovie in my future classroom and even allowing my students to use it for projects as well. I also really liked learning about Osmo and all of the awesome features that come with it. My students can use Osmo to practice their words, use problem solving skills, and to gain fine motor movement skills. I'm excited to look into the other Osmo apps and to use them in my classroom as well!
